The primary purpose of the project management role is to lead, oversee and ensure the successful delivery and management of single or multiple projects within scope, quality, time and cost constraints.
These may be clearly defined or may require dynamic change management in order to deliver business value.
The project manager is accountable for ensuring that one or more projects are capable of delivering the business goals (value to the stakeholders) for which these projects were approved.
The PM has sole accountability for:

Leading the project team through Initiating and Planning,
Managing the project team through Executing and Monitoring & Controlling,
Leading the project team through the project closing,
Follow-up of internal and external project members in order to guarantee the right outcome of the project, if needed align with hierarchical responsible of project members
Meeting the business metrics of the PM’s organization.

Initiate and plan the project, in order to establish the goals and structure required to manage the project.
Activities :

Define the What, How and the scope of the project, aligned with (enterprise) architecture, in collaboration with senior management.
Create a detailed work plan which identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the project.
Determine the resources (time, money, equipment, etc) required to complete the project.
Find agreement on required budget and use of that budget.
Develop a schedule for project completion that effectively allocates the resources to the activities, Identify and schedule project deliverables, milestones and required activities and tasks.
Review the project schedule with senior management and all other staff that will be affected by the project activities; revise the schedule as required
Determine the objectives, metrics and measures upon which the project will be evaluated during the project and at its completion

Staff the project in order to form the project organization structure by identifying, selecting and assigning/contracting the required suppliers or roles for the project, while taking into account the budget.
Activities :

- In consultation with the appropriate manager, recruit, interview and select staff with appropriate skills for the project activities.
- Manage project staff according to the established policies and practices of the organization (from a non-hierarchical perspective).
- Manage on- and offboarding of internal and external project members in collaboration with the PMO office.
- Ensure that all project personnel receives an appropriate introduction to the organization and the project.
- Contract qualified consultants to work on the project as appropriate.
- Contract qualified suppliers to deliver products, resources on the project as appropriate.
- Make sure that a proper stakeholder analysis is done and that their interests, positions and influence with other groups is assessed.

Execute the project in order to deliver the product, service or wanted result according to the project plan and budget.
Activities :

Perform risk assessment and implement mitigation plans.
Set up files or a working structure to ensure that all project information is appropriately documented and secured, in collaboration with the PMO office.
Monitor the progress of the project and make adjustments as necessary to ensure the successful completion of the project.
Make sure a communication schedule to update stakeholders in the organization on the progress of the project is established.
Review the quality of the work completed in the project team on a regular basis to ensure that the project standards are met.

Monitor and Control the project in order to keep control and to make sure that the expected benefits will be delivered and are still valid.
Activities
Compose reports on the project for stakeholders and for the steering committee

Vereisten

Your knowledge & experience :

Master degree in IT management, business management, economics... or equivalent by experience
Five or more years of relevant IT experience, with sensitivity and commitment to business problem solving
Three or more years of BU or BU-facing experience, with sensitivity and commitment to business problem solving
Demonstrated experience and ability in successfully utilizing "soft skills" or "people skills"
Demonstrated experience and ability in managing third party suppliers.
Ability to lead and motivate others; demonstrating empathy and knowledge of personality types
Familiar with project management methodologies (for example, PMI, Prince II and agile)
Demonstrated sensitivity to working in a political environment and to interacting with senior leadership
Knowledge of project planning tools
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; expertise in setting and managing customer expectations
Distinctive blend of business, IT, financial and communication skills, as this is a highly visible position with substantial impact
Effective influencing and negotiating skills in an environment where this role may not directly control resources
Strong knowledge and understanding of business needs, with the ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence
Good understanding of current and emerging technologies and how other enterprises are employing them to drive digital business
