Functional Analyst Passenger Information - Ypto

We are looking for a senior analyst for the Passenger Information team and especially for the backend system called the RIV Factory, which collects a wide variety of raw data from multiple sources and processes, then combines and enriches it before publishing the data as passenger information products to different channels (web, app, train information system, different type of screens…).

Your main tasks and responsibilities are the following:

• You use your experience as a functional/technical analyst to improve the issues surrounding the management of trains (planning and real time) communication to passengers and the train information system.
• You make functional improvement proposals for existing applications and ensure that these applications better match the needs in the field.
• You analyse bugs and data quality problems in NMBS applications and make proposals to solve them.
• You help writing test scenarios.
• You take part in (regression) tests in the context of production settings.
• You help document processes/information flows and applications.
• For the projects you work on, you are the point of contact for the functional analysts, developers, solution architects, enterprise architects and the SNCB teams involved.
• You collaborate on building reports and dashboards for key users and management.
• You are familiar with and apply Agile methodology.

• Fluent (at least B2 level) in French, Dutch and English
• Very good analytical skills and ability to come up with pragmatic solution
• Problem-solving and risk management capabilities
• Good communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders
• Proactive and passionate about software development
• Able to guide developers & testers in understanding requirements
• Challenge business to come to clear and coherent requirements
• Help out on incident resolution
• 10+ years of experience in functional analysis
  • Understanding business processes, requirements, use cases, defects, functional diagrams, architectural design principles
• 5+ years of relevant experience with following technologies:
  • SQL databases: writing SQL queries/SQL Server Management Studio
  • Ability to understand C# code & write pseudo-code and debug
  • Ability to write small applications in order to test delivered projects or proof of concepts
  • GIS, custom applications and algorithms
  • Ability to understand and write parser code
  • RegEx
  • Message streaming platforms (Kafka, ESB…)
  • REST API’s
  • SOAP/XML
  • Multithreading solutions
  • Jira/Confluence
• Experience in the railway industry is a strong plus
